Most of the route follows relatively flat terrain. The final section includes approximately 100 feet of elevation gain to reach Lykes Lookout\, giving the overall hike a moderate rating. \nRegistration Required\nAttendance is limited to 20 participants. Explore the nighttime world of the Sonoran Desert during a special family-friendly Bug Night at the Hassayampa River Preserve. \nEntomologists from Arizona State University will set up a large illuminated attraction station in the Preserve’s palm grove. The lights are expected to draw dozens of insect species\, giving visitors an unusual opportunity to see regional insects\, arachnids and other fascinating creepy-crawlies up close. \nBetween visits to the light station\, park rangers will help guests search for scorpions and other nocturnal wildlife. Possible sightings could include bats\, snakes\, skunks\, raccoons\, ringtails\, javelinas\, rodents and deer. \nBug Night is sponsored by the Friends of Hassayampa. \nRegistration Required\nAttendance is limited to 50 participants.
