Youth Art Club: Beyond the Apps – Making Powerful Photos

Before you add the filter, learn how to make the photo!

Young Wickenburg photographers are invited to go Beyond the Apps during this free Youth Art Club workshop presented through a new collaboration between the Sigler Western Museum and the Wickenburg Art Club.

Students will discover how composition, action, emotion, and storytelling can transform an everyday snapshot into a powerful work of art. Whether they want to capture a quiet moment, photograph a beautiful landscape, take better pictures of friends, create an exciting action shot, or make the perfect portrait of a pet, this workshop will help them develop their own creative vision.

Participants will look at and discuss photographs, practice easy photography techniques, and learn professional tricks that can give their images greater impact and meaning – before relying on filters and editing apps.

The workshop will be led by Donna Drake, B.A. Art – Photography, who has taught photography to young people in the Wickenburg area for several years.
