That early bond with wood and the outdoors remained with Barry during a distinguished career of service with the U.S. Navy SEAL Teams. Barry’s designs are shaped by a remarkable range of influences – global travel, the movement and forms of marine life, and the quiet intelligence found throughout the natural world. His approach is thoughtful and deeply material-driven. Whenever possible, Barry works with reclaimed local wood, allowing the grain, imperfections, and history of each piece to help guide the final form. That commitment to craftsmanship and originality has earned Barry recognition within Arizona’s arts community and beyond. He is a juried member of the Wickenburg Art Club and the Sedona Arts Center, and also a member of the American Association of Woodturners. His work has been exhibited at Goodyear City Hall, featured at the Shemer Art Center in Phoenix, and jury selected for the Tempe Center for the Arts gallery anniversary show.
