This all-inclusive horseback riding retreat, hosted by Katherine Barbarite of Whispering Hooves, brings together like-minded horse enthusiasts for an unforgettable week in Wickenburg. Guests will share stories, experiences, skills, and a lifelong appreciation for horses while becoming part of a welcoming equestrian community.

Kay El Bar is an intimate, historic guest ranch originally homesteaded in 1909. From its towering cottonwoods and grassy ranch grounds to the surrounding Sonoran Desert filled with cactus, slot canyons, and mountain views, the setting offers a remarkable taste of the authentic Western lifestyle.

Participants will explore the desert on thoughtfully planned trail rides designed to build confidence, improve riding skills, and strengthen the connection between horse and rider. The week also includes ranch cattle sorting, an introduction to roping, a cutting demonstration, and a memorable horseback Poker Run with a prize.

Between adventures, guests can enjoy comfortable ranch accommodations, hearty meals, the swimming pool, hot tub, and the peaceful atmosphere of one of Wickenburg’s most distinctive historic guest ranches.
