K9 Konnection Unveils New Website
K9 Konnection Rescue Launches New Website to Support Local Dog Re-Unite & Re-Homing Efforts
Wickenburg has always been a town with a big heart for dogs, and few groups embody that spirit more than K9 Konnection, our local no-kill 501(c)(3) rescue. Dedicated to rescuing, reuniting, and re-homing dogs, K9 pairs heart with know-how – providing medical care, behavioral support, and thoughtful placements so adoptions are built to last.
Now, with the launch of their brand-new website, it’s easier than ever for the community to learn about available dogs, volunteer opportunities, and the many ways to support this hometown rescue. The site was created by BLT Marketing & Design, a local Wickenburg firm led by Brian and Leslie Terhorst – two proud dog lovers themselves.
A Rescue Born Out of Need
K9 Konnection was founded by Shirley Peters, who recognized a serious gap in local services. Years ago, lost, stray, and abandoned dogs in Wickenburg were taken to the county shelter more than 60 miles away. Too often, families were unable to retrieve their pets due to the distance and strict requirements, and many beloved dogs were never reunited with their owners. Shirley set out to change that by creating a community-based solution right here in Wickenburg.
Leadership With Heart
Today, K9 Konnection is led by President Paul Minnich, whose commitment is nothing short of inspiring. Legally blind, Paul doesn’t let obstacles slow him down when it comes to saving dogs. This month, Paul and his team of volunteers took in 13 abandoned puppies, all in desperate need of medical attention and nutrition. With care and compassion, they bathed, treated, and placed the pups with foster families until forever homes could be found. We found Paul to be one of the nicest and most inspirational people we have met in a long, long time. A New Platform for Volunteers & Community Support
The new K9 Konnection website isn’t just about showcasing adoptable dogs – it’s also a vital hub for building community involvement. Volunteers are the heartbeat of the organization, and the site makes it simple for people to sign up and lend a hand. In addition, there are opportunities for local businesses and corporate sponsors to get involved through donations, event sponsorships, and ongoing partnerships. Every helping hand, whether from individuals or organizations, makes a direct impact on the lives of dogs in need.
Fundraising Events That Bring the Community Together
Running a rescue takes resources, and K9 has never shied away from fun, creative ways to raise funds.
Their current effort, Flipping For Fido, has seven local restaurants competing for the title of “Best Fido Burger/Wrap/Sandwich.” From September 15th through September 30th, you can try each restaurant’s unique creation while supporting K9 Konnection’s mission. Participating restaurants include:

And don’t miss the Paws & Paintbrushes Annual Fundraising Gala on October 25th at Wickenburg Ranch. The evening includes a full dinner, raffles, art, music, door prizes, and live entertainment by nationally touring comedian Mike James. It’s a night of fun for a cause – with auctions, laughter, and a chance to make a difference for local dogs in need. Tickets are limited, so make plans now to attend.
