Rancho Rio Opens the 2026 Team Roping Season in Wickenburg October 24

Team roping season is riding back into Wickenburg!

Rancho Rio launches its 2026 season on Saturday, October 24, with a full day of National Team Roping competition in the Team Roping Capital of the World.

Entries close at 9:00 a.m., and the first roping begins at 9:30 a.m. The Season Opener includes multiple divisions, trophy buckle opportunities and classes for a range of competitors.

8.5 Two-Steer

Trophy buckles will be awarded to first place.

• Enter up to three times
• Handicapped
• 4.5 cap

8.5 Legends High Roller

Open to competitors age 40 and older and cowgirls over age 30.

• Pick one or draw for $120 per roper
• Enter up to three times
• Four-steer
• Handicapped
• 4.5 cap
• 70% payback

9.5 Handicap

This four-steer roping will award trophy buckles to first place. Books close at 10:30 a.m.

10.5 Handicap

• Pick one, draw one or draw two for $150
• Enter up to three times
• Four-steer
• 6.5 cap

12.5 Slide

Competitors may enter up to four times. Books will not close before 2:00 p.m.

• Pick one or draw for $120
• Enter up to four times
• Handicap up and down at 1.5 seconds per number
• Maximum of six seconds added or subtracted
• Four-steer
• 70% payback

Important Competitor Information

Cash and credit cards will be accepted. The event offers a two-thirds cash and prize payback unless otherwise noted.

A current Global Handicap is required. The producer reserves the right to reclassify competitors and make any necessary changes to the event.
