April is one of the best times to enjoy Wickenburg. The weather is still beautiful, the spring calendar is full, and the month brings together rodeo, team roping, live music, Western art, family activities, and a few distinctly local events that make this town such a fun place to be. Whether you are a local looking for something new to do or a visitor planning a spring weekend, Wickenburg has plenty happening in April.
The month kicks off in a big way with the Legends of the West ProRodeo, one of April’s major highlights in Wickenburg. Rodeo fans can look forward to a full weekend of Western action at Everett Bowman Rodeo Arena, setting the tone for a month that leans hard into the town’s cowboy roots and spring energy.
That same first weekend, things heat up even more with Chili Con Carnage on Saturday, April 4 at noon at Vulture Peak Brewing Company. Billed as a showdown of flavor, fire, and friendly competition, it is the kind of fun, community-driven event that adds even more life to an already packed April calendar – and it all supports a great local cause.
The action keeps rolling with Wild Wickenburg Bull Riding on Saturday, April 11 at Everett Bowman Arena. For anyone who loves high-energy arena action, this is another strong reason to spend the weekend in Wickenburg. Between the rodeo and the bull riding, April gives locals and visitors more than a few chances to soak up the town’s Western spirit.

April is also a strong month for the roping crowd at Rancho Rio. The schedule includes Legends Mondays on April 6 and April 13, Legends Saturday on April 11, and the Rancho Rio Season Closer on April 25. Together, these events keep the arena busy throughout the month and reinforce Wickenburg’s well-earned reputation as the Team Roping Capital of the World.
On Sunday, April 12 at 2 p.m., Wickenburg Friends of Music presents Alex Mack Music’s “Travelin’ Man” at the Wickenburg Community Center. This free concert features the music of Ricky Nelson, Connie Francis, Fabian, and other teen idols of that era, giving April’s lineup a fun nostalgic note and offering a nice change of pace from the arena action.
One of Wickenburg’s most iconic spring traditions follows with the Desert Caballeros Trail Ride, taking place April 13-17. This long-running Desert Caballeros Trail Ride, taking place April 13-17. This long-running event is deeply tied to Wickenburg’s ranching and riding heritage and remains one of the most recognizable Western traditions of the season. It is the kind of event that reminds both locals and visitors what makes Wickenburg unique.
For pet owners, this is also a good time to keep Rattlesnake Avoidance Training on the radar. The April 19 class is a K9 Konnection event and another practical way to get ready for the season before snake activity ramps up.
April also brings a strong arts-and-culture lineup. Wild Things will be on view at the Wickenburg Art Center & Gallery, 188 S. Tegner, from April 1 through May 23, offering another reason to spend time downtown and mix some local art into the month’s schedule.
Also on view this spring is the “Cowgirl Up!” Exhibition and Sale, running from March 27 through May 31, at the Newly Re-named Sigler Western Museum, one of Wickenburg’s signature Western art events and a must-see for anyone who appreciates the creativity and culture of the American West.
Families should also keep an eye on Camp Imagination Auditions on April 25-26. This year’s Camp Imagination production is Disney’s Aladdin, making it a fun addition to the month for young performers and arts-minded families. It is another reminder that April in Wickenburg is not just about rodeo and roping – there is plenty happening for music lovers, art fans, and kids too.
Whether you’re a local or coming to watch some Ropin’ Rodeo or Bull Ridin’ Action. If you’re itchin’ to attend a concert, enjoy an Art Exhibition, or simply experience the beauty of the desert, April is a fantastic time to visit Wickenburg.
